A 19-year-old college student from Tripura, Sneha Debnath, has reportedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances in New Delhi, prompting a high-level response from the Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, who has directed police officials to take prompt and appropriate action.
Sneha, a resident of Sabroom in South Tripura district, was studying at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College under Delhi University. According to her family, she last spoke with her mother on July 7, informing her that she was heading to Sarai Rohilla Railway Station with a friend named Pitunia. Her last known phone call was made at 5:56 AM, but by 8:45 AM, her phone was unreachable.
In a concerning twist, it was later discovered that Pitunia never met Sneha that morning as planned. Instead, a cab driver—tracked down by Sneha’s family—claimed to have dropped her off near Signature Bridge, an area in Delhi often criticized for safety issues and limited CCTV surveillance.
The news quickly caught the attention of the Tripura Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), which issued a statement via social media saying:
“The report of Miss Sneha Debnath, a resident of Sabroom, who has reportedly gone missing in New Delhi, has come to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office. Following this, necessary instructions have been promptly issued to the police to take immediate and appropriate action.”
Following this, Delhi Police, assisted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), launched an extensive search operation in and around the Signature Bridge area, covering a seven-kilometre radius. Despite their efforts, no substantial leads have been found so far.
The family remains extremely anxious, revealing that Sneha left without any personal belongings and had not made any withdrawals from her bank account in the past four months. Her financial records also show no recent transactions.
With the investigation ongoing, authorities have made a public appeal for information regarding Sneha’s whereabouts. The case continues to be treated as high priority by law enforcement, and search efforts are being further intensified.
