Tabu is set to star alongside Vijay Sethupathi in Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming film. The movie is being produced by the director under his production company, Puri Connects. Filming commenced a few days ago, and reports indicate that part of the shooting will occur in Chennai, while the rest will be filmed on a specially designed set in Hyderabad. Recently, it was reported that Tabu will portray a formidable antagonist in the film.
As per a report from Hindustan Times, Tabu has a significant role in the film, serving as the primary antagonist. Puri Jagannadh is recognized for creating strong female characters in his films, and he continues this trend with Tabu in this untitled project. Reports suggest that the actress will also adopt a new look for this film. This isn’t the first time Tabu has taken on a negative role in her career; she has previously portrayed complex characters in films like Maqbool and Andhadhun.
Samyuktha Menon will also feature as the female lead in the untitled film. Several prominent Telugu actors are set to play important roles in this movie, which is expected to be released nationwide in India.
When announcing Tabu’s casting in the film, the production team shared a photo of the actress with Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur. The caption read, “She’s electric. She’s explosive. She’s THE TABU. Team #PuriSethupathi Proudly Welcomes THE GEM OF INDIAN CINEMA, Actress @tabutiful on-board for a ROLE as DYNAMIC as her presence.”
Tabu, who recently appeared in Dune: Prophecy, is set to feature next in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Jisshu Sengupta, and Wamiqa Gabbi, with music composed by Pritam. It is anticipated to be released next year. Meanwhile, her co-star Vijay was seen in three films last year.
He appeared in Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas, which was also filmed in Hindi and featured Katrina Kaif. He then starred in Maharaja, directed by Nithilan Saminathan. Finally, Vijay was seen in Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai Part 2, where he acted alongside Man.
