State-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was reportedly shot four times in the chest, with all bullets recovered according to the autopsy report.
Three bullets were located in the deceased’s body — one positioned below the neck and another on the lower back near the waist. Furthermore, one exit wound was identified. In total, four wounds were discovered on Radhika’s body.
Radhika’s father, Deepak Yadav, is alleged to have fatally shot his 25-year-old daughter at their family’s double-storey residence in the affluent Sushant Lok area on Thursday. He has admitted to the crime. A court in Gurugram on Friday remanded Deepak Yadav to police custody for one day.
Outside the court, a police official informed reporters that they had requested a two-day remand for the accused. “We need to recover the ammunition from his licensed revolver (used in the crime). We must verify how much ammunition he had acquired,” he stated.
When asked where the recovery would take place, the official replied, “The accused owns land in Kasam village near Rewari. We need to retrieve the ammunition from there.” The 49-year-old suspect, dressed in a T-shirt and trousers, had his head covered with a towel as he exited the vehicle near the court complex under police escort for his court appearance.
He was bombarded with questions from a group of journalists, inquiring about the motive behind killing his daughter. However, he was swiftly taken inside the court premises.
Upon exiting the court after the hearing, the towel was removed. He faced the same inquiries again, and once more, he was quickly escorted by the police to the vehicle.
Authorities stated they were exploring all potential angles in the murder investigation, including the whereabouts of the player’s mother at the time of the incident.
They asserted that the tennis academy Radhika operated was a point of contention between the father and daughter.
Tennis Academy & Radhika’s Murder Link
A spokesperson for the Gurugram police stated that Deepak has admitted to the crime and revealed that his objection stemmed from his daughter operating the tennis academy, which had led to numerous disputes between them.
The accused believed that he was financially secure and also received income from rentals, thus asserting that there was no necessity for his daughter to manage an academy, according to the police.
“Radhika managed a tennis academy in Gurugram, and her father was displeased with this. He had repeatedly instructed her to close it down, but she refused to comply. In a fit of rage, he shot her three times,” the spokesperson further elaborated.
