Shanya Kapoor Handling Criticism: ‘It’s My Responsibility To Hear The Audience’

Celebrities frequently endure significant public scrutiny and criticism, which can arise from their performances, actions, statements, or even their personal lives. Recently, Shanaya Kapoor, who is set to make her acting debut in the upcoming film, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, shared her thoughts on managing public opinion and social media trolling, stating that it is her ‘responsibility’ to heed the audience’s voice.

In an interview with Zoom, the Starkid remarked, “I believe that (criticism) is very important. As an actor, I’ve always felt it’s my duty to listen to what the audience has to say. It’s the least I can do since I have the chance to stand in front of the camera and perform for them. I am awaiting their approval. I am here to earn my place through sincere choices and hard work, and I will only achieve that if they accept me.”

She further elaborated, “If I don’t listen to them, acknowledge their opinions, and read their comments, it would be unjust, but it’s part of the path I’ve chosen. Therefore, I approach it positively. Yes, there is criticism, which I have faced over the years. I have taken it very positively. I view it as feedback and have utilized it to enhance my growth as a person and an actor, especially.”

“I genuinely appreciate their feedback and approval regarding my work. Thus, I am constantly reading, or at least perusing articles. I am always looking at comments, even if they are on other pages with paparazzi photos. I am observing everything. I think it is crucial for me to do that,” Shanaya added.

Regarding Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, the film also stars Vikrant Massey in lead roles and is set to premiere in theaters tomorrow, July 11. Directed by Santosh Singh, it is inspired by Ruskin Bond’s short story The Eyes Have It. In the film, Shanaya will portray a theatre artist, while Vikrant will play a blind musician.

In addition to this, Shanaya has a survival thriller, Tu Yaa Main, featuring Adarsh Gourav, which is scheduled to be released on Valentine’s Day 2026.

Aankhon Ki Gustaalhiyan is set to encounter a significant box office competition against RajKummar Rao’s Maalik and the highly awaited Superman by James Gunn.
