Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered strict measures against those implicated in the alleged stripping of female students at a school to verify if they were menstruating, as stated by minister Girish Mahajan on Thursday.
The minister informed the legislative assembly that the Chief Minister has initiated an investigation into the incident that occurred at a private school in Thane district.

Congress’ Nana Patole brought the issue to the attention of the Lower House, voicing concerns that such an event could happen in a progressive state like Maharashtra.
Jitendra Awhad of NCP (SP) pointed out that the principal involved is a woman herself. The police have apprehended the principal and another staff member in connection with the alleged stripping of the girls.
Reiterating that the police have already taken action in this case, Mahajan assured the House that an investigation would be carried out and strict measures would follow.
Congress legislator Jyoti Gaikwad also insisted that those responsible should face consequences. She highlighted the necessity of facilities such as sanitary napkin vending machines and water in schools.

The incident occurred at the school in the Shahapur area of Thane district on Tuesday after bloodstains were discovered in its toilet, according to police reports.
This incident incited outrage among the parents of the girls, who protested on the school grounds on Wednesday, demanding action against the management and teachers involved in the incident.
On Wednesday night, the police arrested the school’s principal and a female attendant who allegedly stripped the girls, who were in Classes 5 to 10, and examined their private parts for signs of menstruation, as reported by an official from the Shahapur police station.
A case has been filed against eight individuals under sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and 76 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to disrobe) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
