Vikas, also known as Raja, who was a suspect in the murder case of Gopal Khemka, was shot dead during a police encounter early Tuesday morning.
The information available, Vikas was engaged in the production and distribution of illegal firearms. This incident occurred while the Special Investigation Team, along with a unit from the Special Task Force, was executing a raid.
Vikas fired at the police as soon as he noticed their presence. He was killed in return fire around 2:45 am. From the scene, one pistol, a bullet, and a cartridge were seized. Vikas’s remains were transported to Nalanda Medical College in Patna for an autopsy.
By Monday, law enforcement had apprehended two individuals linked to the murder of Gopal Khemka, a businessman from Patna, including the shooter.
Another suspect, believed to have hired the contract killer, was also taken into custody.
“Both individuals have been arrested in Patna by a collaborative team from the Special Task Force and Patna Police. The investigation is ongoing. We will provide further information in due time,” stated an officer.
Gopal Khemka was fatally shot outside his home in Patna by an assailant on a motorcycle at 11:40 PM on July 4, seven years after his son was murdered by criminals in Hajipur.
The shooting occurred near the entrance of Khemka’s residence in the Gandhi Maidan area.
In response to the incident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar convened a meeting on Saturday to assess the law and order situation in the state, during which he directed officials to expedite the investigation. Khemka was reportedly linked to the BJP.
