Anurag Basu’s ensemble romantic drama Metro… In Dino has continued to perform well over the weekend and has shown a strong start on its first Monday.
The film has generated Rs 2.50 crore nett at the box office on its first Monday. The cumulative earnings now total Rs 19.25 crore, and the film’s revenue is anticipated to remain stable as it approaches its second week, which features a number of new releases.
During its opening weekend, the film amassed Rs 15.75 crore, with daily earnings of Rs 3.25 crore on Friday, Rs 5.75 crore on Saturday, and Rs 6.75 crore on Sunday.
Metro In Dino kicked off its theatrical release impressively, with its first-day gross collection being 300% greater than Anurag Basu’s 2007 sleeper hit Life In A Metro, which opened at Rs 80 lakh.
Metro…In Dino serves as a spiritual sequel to 2007’s Life In A Metro and features a cast that includes Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, among others. The film explores contemporary relationships within urban settings.
While Konkona is the only actor returning from the 2007 film, Pankaj portrays a character akin to Irrfan Khan’s Monty, opposite her. He is depicted as a quirky, emotionally complex individual navigating the challenges of modern relationships.
Metro In Dino has garnered acclaim for its relatable perspective on love and commitment. A passage, “It’s not every day that we encounter a Bollywood love story crafted with such heart, maturity, intensity, intimacy, and subtlety. Metro In Dino serves as a masterclass on contemporary love. It appeals to the lonely, to those who have triumphed in love only to experience loss. It is as much Anurag’s film as it is Pritam’s. Zamaana Lage, Dil Ka Kya, and Mann Ye Mera are particularly noteworthy. Hurry to the cinemas now!”
Anurag Basu’s distinctive storytelling approach, paired with Pritam’s emotionally resonant music, has already garnered significant praise.
