Saif Ali Khan has lost his properties the court classified them as ‘Enemy Property’

In a significant blow to Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, he has lost properties valued at Rs 15,000 crore that belong to the Pataudi family, as the Madhya Pradesh High Court has classified them as ‘Enemy Property.’ This ruling has overturned a 1999 decision that was in favor of his great-grandmother, Sajida Sultan.

According to India’s Enemy Property Act, these assets are those left behind by individuals who migrated to Pakistan after the Partition in 1947 or who became citizens there—specifically, in this case, due to Sajida’s brother relocating to Pakistan. Consequently, the government is now authorized to manage or seize these properties.

Saif Ali Khan has already refuted rumors regarding his intention to repurchase Pataudi Palace, his ancestral residence, from a hotel chain a few years ago. He also emphasized that the reported price of Rs 800 crore for the property is a “huge exaggeration.”

The actor informed Mumbai Mirror that he is the rightful owner of the property, which was leased to Neemrana Hotels. However, following the death of his father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, in 2011, he expressed a desire for the family to reclaim the palace once more.

“It’s impossible to assign a monetary value to it because, emotionally, the property is invaluable. My grandparents and father are interred there, and it holds security, tranquility, and a spiritual bond for me. The land has a history that spans several centuries, but the palace that my grandfather constructed for my grandmother is about a century old. He was the reigning monarch at that time, but since then, privy purses and titles have been abolished. These are different times, which is why my father decided to lease it out, and Francis and Aman, who managed a hotel in the palace, took excellent care of the property and felt like family. My mother  has a cottage there and has always felt at home,” Khan stated.
