Sonam Raghuvanshi, labeled as ‘Inspiration’, murdered her husband; she was in love with her ‘Phuphaji’

In what seems to be a disturbing parallel to the recent Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, a young woman is accused of conspiring with her maternal uncle to murder her husband in a premeditated act. According to reports, the victim, 24-year-old Priyanshu Kumar Singh, was killed on the night of June 24 while returning from the railway station.

The initial investigation indicated a contract killing, but the case took a more sinister turn when police discovered that Priyanshu’s wife, Gunja, was involved in the plot. This incident has drawn shocking comparisons to the Meghalaya honeymoon murder, with reports suggesting that Gunja was inspired by that case before devising her own nefarious plan against her husband.

A week after orchestrating her husband’s murder, Gunja found the police at her door, leading to her arrest on July 2. The police investigation revealed that she had been in a long-term relationship with Jeevan Singh, her paternal aunt’s husband, and was compelled to marry Priyanshu, a farmer from Barwan in Aurangabad, Bihar.

The suspects are said to have hired hitmen for the execution of the crime and have now been charged with murder. Additionally, two other individuals have been arrested for their involvement in facilitating the crime.

Gunja coordinated the murder alongside Jeevan, who enlisted contract killers with assistance from two individuals from Jharkhand’s Garhwa district. On the night of the incident, Priyanshu was on his way back from Varanasi when he contacted his wife to update her on his whereabouts, which she allegedly relayed to the assailants before they fatally shot him. Following her arrest on Wednesday, Gunja admitted to her involvement in the crime. While the other two attackers have been apprehended, Jeevan Singh is still at large.

According to the Indian Express, the police discovered that her uncle had previously disrupted her marriage proposals before her father arranged her union with the deceased. Even after their marriage, Gunja maintained communication with her uncle, which caused turmoil in their married life.
