India’s captain Shubman Gill and England’s skipper Ben Stokes spoke to the media prior to the second Test at Edgbaston, set to commence on Wednesday, 2 July. Gill indicated that a final decision regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s participation will be made after one last inspection of the pitch.

Although Bumrah is available for selection, Gill noted that the team is working to achieve the right balance between claiming 20 wickets and accumulating sufficient runs.

“We will make the decision on Jasprit Bumrah this evening. Jasprit Bumrah is available. We are attempting to find the right combination that can secure 20 wickets while also scoring runs. We will finalize our decision after assessing the wicket one last time today,” Gill stated.
