Rohit Sharma commemorates the one-year anniversary of the T20 World Cup victory with a heartfelt message

Former T20I captain Rohit Sharma has shared insights into the emotional journey he experienced one year after guiding India to a remarkable T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. In an interview with JioHotstar, Rohit expressed how significant the win was, describing it as the ‘proudest moment of his cricketing career.’

‘Barbados will forever be in my veins’ Rohit remarked that lifting the T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados was both surreal and emotional, particularly in light of the disappointments India had endured in previous ICC tournaments. He reflected on his debut during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, which India also clinched under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of winning the title under the guidance of Rahul Dravid, who served as the head coach at that time.

“Barbados will forever be in my veins. This is the proudest moment of my cricketing career. To lift that trophy, to be crowned ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Champions—it was surreal. I played in the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup and we won under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. And now, to win it again with Rahul Dravid as head coach—it meant everything to this group,” Rohit stated.
