Harshit Rana Released Ahead of 2nd India-England Test

Fast bowler Harshit Rana has been removed from India’s Test squad in England, just one day after head coach Gautam Gambhir provided an explanation for his late addition. As reported by the Press Trust of India, Harshit—who was included as a replacement for an injured player—did not make the trip to Birmingham, where the second Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is set to take place.

Harshit’s inclusion as the 19th member of the squad raised questions, particularly due to his minimal contribution leading up to the series. He managed to take only one wicket in India A’s four-day unofficial Test against England Lions earlier this month, yet he was chosen over the more effective Anshul Kamboj and Mukesh Kumar for the main squad.
